He has always lived in cities with waterfront: Zurich, Geneva, Palamos (Spain), Lausanne, Tarragona (Spain). In this historic city overlooking the Mediterranean from the top of its balcony where he lived for several years, he began to paint as a result of his friendship with the now famous Spanish landscape painter Tomas Olivar. His early paintings were already showing landscapes where water is predominant and it is natural that he began to paint landscapes of lakes, returning to Switzerland. 

His style is very simple, even naïve, because he paints as he sees and feels it: Full of light and colours. His painting is especially admired by friends of Lake Geneva and lovers of landscapes, because it shows a very simple and very luminous beauty of the lake scenery with its boats, historic barges, fishing boats and yachts, its gulls, swans, ducks, herons and its shores so different from one season to another.

He has successfully participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Switzerland and abroad and his paintings signed "Henri d'Ouchy" or "Hi Bell" are among collectors including Switzerland, England, Italy and Spain.
